Our God is with us, Immanuel

When Adam walked the Garden, new
Along the pathways, God walked too
Communion sweet, just God and man
Fellowship was God’s own plan
To walk and talk, and there to dwell
Our God is with us, Immanuel

But Adam chose to walk alone
The Garden was no longer home
Hand in hand the man and wife
Walked the land, a lonely life
Could they come back, from whence they fell?
Our God is with us, Immanuel

The prophets spoke, the message heard
A promised Son, by God’s own Word
The Son of God would come to man
And save them by his righteous hand
Incarnation: love impelled
Our God is with us, Immanuel

And so the promise came at last
The incarnation come to pass
God to his own dear people come
All in the frame of his own Son
Just as the prophets did foretell
Our God is with us, Immanuel

“I will prepare a place for you
Where I will be, there you will too”
A promise from our Lord and King
That one day in his house we’ll sing
A perfect Bride: one voice will swell
Our God is with us, Immanuel
