But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 2 Peter 3:10
We’ve been looking at the passage that contains this verse in our Bible study on the return of Jesus Christ.
This verse really does drive home just how astounding that day will be for both believers and non-believers. The coming of the Lord, we are told elsewhere in the Bible will be such that every eye will see Him. His coming will be sudden ‘in the twinkling of an eye’, and it will be final!
This verse tells us that when Jesus returns He will destroy the entire universe: the heavens will pass away, and the heavenly bodies will be dissolved, and the earth and its people will be laid bare before their Maker!!
If we were to truly believe this and live accordingly, what change would it make to what we say and do?
