The Work of My Hands – Isaiah 60:21

The concept of existing solely for the purpose of serving someone else’s interests is total anathema to the western world. We live for ourselves & ourselves alone – that is what we are taught it is to be a man. The cowboy Shane is a typical example, independent and proud, and living by his own rules.

But I am not my own man – I am the work of God’s hands. Therefore, to be ‘my own man’ is robbery and rebellion. To be God’s man is to fulfil my purpose as well as God’s. That God might be glorified is the telos, the end goal of my life. Living for Him I find my identity. Serving Him I find pride in what He does for His glory in my life.
